Foreign media The Verge reported that, following Apple and Spotify, Facebook will launch its own podcast platform product next week.
Facebook Account
According to Facebook’s email to podcast creators, Facebook will launch a podcast service on June 22. Content creators will be able to link the RSS feeds of their shows to Facebook and generate news feed posts for all subsequent episodes.
Facebook
The email mentioned: "Facebook will become a place where people can enjoy, discuss and share their favorite podcasts with each other."
The podcast episode will appear in the upcoming "Podcasts" tab. Facebook will also provide an optional feature for podcast creators, allowing listeners to create clips of programs no longer than one minute for sharing.
Facebook does not require any revenue from podcasts, but the terms of service stipulate that Facebook reserves the right to distribute "derivative works" of content on its platform.
As a huge digital advertising platform, Facebook may be able to bring new possibilities for the commercialization of podcasts.
