On March 10th, Apple announced on Wednesday that it will use Munich as its European Silicon Design Center (European Silicon Design Center). Apple’s work in Munich is contributing to Apple’s chip design, and this expansion and additional R&D investment will exceed 1 billion euros in the next three years.

Apple said that the new state-of-the-art office area will bring hundreds of new jobs to Munich. Munich has become Apple's largest engineering centre in Europe, with approximately 1,500 engineers from 40 countries working in various fields including power management design and application processors. The new facility will accommodate employees who focus on connectivity and wireless technologies.

Apple’s new office area is located on Karlstrasse in the heart of Munich. It will be the location of Apple’s growing mobile phone division, which is also Europe’s largest mobile wireless semiconductor and software research and development base. The team will create 5G and future technologies, and will focus on developing, integrating and optimizing wireless modems for Apple products.
Apple plans to move into a new office building by the end of 2022. Like Apple's global offices, it will run entirely on 100% renewable energy. Apple said the company has spent more than 15 billion euros through cooperation with more than 700 companies of different sizes in Germany. Among them, including chip manufacturer Infineon, battery company Varta, and family chemical company DELO, and so on.
