Meizu and Honor express their views
In the mobile operating system market, Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS have been dominating for many years and have basically monopolized more than 90% of the global market. For domestic enterprises, it is undoubtedly imminent to break the constraints of the operating system.
It is precisely because of this that Huawei's Hongmeng system has been so concerned by the industry. However, the success of an operating system requires not only technological breakthroughs, but also the support of users, software developers, and ecological partners, so that Hongmeng's self-developed ecosystem can be established.
However, since the news of the official release of the Hongmeng system , the five major domestic mobile phone manufacturers , including Xiaomi, OPPO, and vivo, have remained silent. So far, only Meizu and Honor have made a clear statement.
On May 28, Meizu officially stated that it would officially connect to the Hongmeng system. However, Meizu only has its Lipro smart home products connected to the Hongmeng system, and has not stated whether mobile phones and other products will choose Hongmeng.
Just as fans are looking forward to who will be the first mobile phone brand to access the Hongmeng system, Honor CEO Zhao Ming said in an interview that he does not rule out the use of the Hongmeng system in the future, but Android is still the first choice now.
Will manufacturers such as Xiaomi and OV access Hongmeng?
According to Huawei's plan, the goal of 300 million devices to be connected to the Hongmeng system will be completed this year. In addition to the 200 million Huawei-owned equipment, Hongmeng needs to access at least 100 million ecological equipment.
For Hongmeng, domestic mobile phone manufacturers are undoubtedly a huge market. If Xiaomi, OV, etc. can access the Hongmeng system, this will inevitably greatly drive the installed capacity and influence of the Hongmeng system.
However, based on the current response, Xiaomi, OV, etc. may be less likely to choose the Hongmeng system.
On the one hand, compared with the relatively mature Android system, if mobile phone manufacturers such as Xiaomi replace the Hongmeng system, they will undoubtedly need to pay for adaptation and maintenance costs again. From the perspective of saving expenditure and improving efficiency, mobile phone manufacturers will also carefully consider accessing Hongmeng.
On the other hand, Huawei is a leading mobile phone manufacturer and has a competitive relationship with Xiaomi and OV. The operating system is undoubtedly the lifeblood of mobile phone manufacturers, who would be willing to put their own development lifeblood in the hands of competitors?
Therefore, from this perspective, mainstream domestic manufacturers such as Xiaomi will not choose the Hongmeng system with a high probability. On the other hand, Google's mobile phone business is basically in a tepid state, and its share is not worth mentioning. It is difficult to pose a threat to Xiaomi and others. This is one of the reasons why domestic manufacturers can "rest assured" to choose Android.
