Windows 10 With Qualcomm Processor

Although Microsoft and Qualcomm have a close cooperative relationship, so far, Windows 10 on ARM laptops has not had much impact.

Windows 10 With Qualcomm Processor

According to reports, Qualcomm’s rumored Snapdragon 7cx Gen2 chip will soon further enhance Windows 10 on ARM laptops. The chip can power cheaper “always-on and always-on” laptops. The cheapest Windows 10 on ARM devices starts at $599, and if you buy flagship products from companies such as Microsoft and HP, their prices are even higher.

Currently, the options for Windows 10 on ARM PCs are very limited. Compared with Intel or AMD notebooks, we do not have budget-friendly or mid-range options. In addition to the Apple M1 -competitor, Qualcomm also believes that the Snapdragon 7C Gen 2 is working and the internal codename of the chip is "SC7295".

In terms of performance, Snapdragon 7c Gen2 is similar to the Snapdragon 775 processor designed for flagship Android phones . The maximum clock speed of Snapdragon 7c Gen2 for Windows 10 is 2.7GHz. It will have three "large" cores with a clock frequency of 2.4GHz and four "small" cores with a clock frequency of up to 1.8GHz.

According to an earlier report, the processor is being tested on the 64-bit version of ARM's Windows 10. Unfortunately, information about the processor is rarely leaked online. For example, we don't know the release date, TDP value and whether it will use improved thermal design capabilities to reduce overheating.

Snapdragon on Windows 10 is about to gain strong momentum Among the reviews of the first laptops running on the Snapdragon 8xx, the most common complaint was the lack of power in mid-range devices. By adding more PC-optimized chips to the Snapdragon series, Qualcomm can finally improve the performance of Windows on ARM.

As mentioned above, Qualcomm is also working on a high-end processor code-named "SC8280" to compete with products such as Apple M1 . The release of these two new processor versions may take up to several months Judging from these new details, Qualcomm finally seems to attach great importance to the future of ARM 10, especially after the successful launch of Apple M1 .
